I was thrilled that Alvaro, our driver and tour guide was willing to let us make up our own plans for the day. My two teenage granddaughters and I wanted to see Sintra but not spend the day there. Alvaro took us to three beach areas east of Sintra: Cascais, Praia do Guincho and Cabo da Roca. The beauty of the Atlantic, the beaches, the kite surfers was spectacular. We returned to Sintra for lunch and saw the sites and visited Pena Palace. It was a great day.

We loved the flexibility of the day and seeing so much - Cascais, Cabo de Roca, National Park, Sintra and Pena Palace. Our guide Orlando recommended a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Sintra. We would have loved to have spent more time there! A highlight was eating a traveissero at Piriquita. Delightful day!
